PPT Marklets

PPT Marklets allow you to extract all the People, Places, and Things that you select on a webpage. They require Internet Explorer 4 (or above).

They provide a mock application of XML Marklets. (It's a "mock application" because it's not as interesting as a real application would be. A real application would do some processing on the extracted data.)

To use them,

1. Keep the marklets below

Point at each of the 3 links below, right-click, and choose "Add to Favorites".

THING

2. Keep the "Process PPT" marklet

Keep it the same way you kept the marklets above.
Process PPT

3. Markup some text on a webpage

Go to a (nonframed) webpage and select a person, place, or thing (by dragging across it while holding the mouse down). Then choose the corresponding marklet from your browser's Favorites menu. The marklet will add some (invisible) tags to the webpage. Repeat for as many people, places, or things as desired. Here's some practice text. (Read the remaining instructions before you begin marking up the page.)

4. Process the PPT page

By choosing "Process PPT" from your Favorites menu. This sends the data for extraction.

The extracted people, places, and things will appear in a list.
